• CLINICAL ACTIVITIES

  Since April 2009; she has been the Head of the first Cardioncology out-patient clinic in Italy, whose main areas of competence are:

   

  -  cardiac risk stratification in patients scheduled for oncologic treatment;

  -  prevention, early detection, monitoring and treatment of cardiotoxicity;

  -  screening of cardiotoxicity in patients with cardiac disease;

  -  malignant pericardial effusion evaluation and intrapericardial treatment. 

   

• RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

  Head of the scientific research activities of the Cardiology Unit at European Institute of Oncology – Milan.

   

  Main fields of scientific interest:

   

  *Cardio-toxicity caused by chemotherapeutics:

   

  Early diagnosis:

  - use of biochemical markers in the early identification of heart damage and in the stratification of cardiovascular risk after oncologic treatment;

  - evaluation of the pontential cardiotoxicity of new chemotherapeutic drugs using biochemical markers and electrocardiographic monitoring;

  - evaluation of entothelial damage of antitumoral agents.

   

  Prevention:

  - use of cardio-prospective drugs to prevent acute and chronic damage caused by chemotherapeutic drugs.

   

  Treatment:

  - treatment strategies of cardiomyopathy induced by chemotherapeutic drugs

   

  *Prevention and treatment of post-surgery atrial fibrillation

   

  *Intrapericardial therapy of malignant effusions

   

  *Cardiovascukar risck stratification in patiens undergoing cancer surgery

• EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

  Speaker at national and international conferences. Teacher at courses and seminars of the Italian Association of Hospital Cardiologists, of the Italian Society of Cardiology, of the Cardiovascular Clinical Biochemistry Study Group, of the School of Specialization in Cardiology of the University of Milan, of the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the C.N.R., of the Italia Society of Cardiovascular Echocardiography, of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology, and of the Italian Society of Haematology.
