European Institute of Oncology Smoking FOCUS Checkup

European Institute of Oncology’s Smoking FOCUS is aimed at smokers and ex-smokers wanting an early diagnosis of lung and cardiovascular disease related to smoking, and offers: 

• Blood tests, including Helicobacter Pylori and fecal occult blood tests
• Respiratory function with alveolar-capillary diffusion tests
• Low Dose pulmonary CT scan (over 50)
• Pulmonary visit (under 50)
• Two-dimensional echocardiogram using color Doppler
• Carotid intima-media thickness test
• Cardiological examination with Electrocardiogram
• Specialist examination by a doctor from the European Institute of Oncology Thoracic Surgery Department 

The European Institute of Oncology also offers the opportunity for a psychological consultation with specialists from the European Institute of Oncology Anti-Smoking Center for those who wish to follow a guided course aimed at stopping smoking.

Based on your Entry Examination, or upon request by the patient, it will also be possible to link the following services to the Smoking FOCUS:

• Specialist dermatological examination;

• BMD (bones mineral density);
• Oncological genetic counselling;
• No smoking psychological counselling.

Indicative timeline

The day will begin with your arrival at the European Institute of Oncology and access to the dedicated car park. We will then carry out some administrative procedures in the European Institute of Oncology Self-Paying Patients Office, after which you will be taken to the reception in the Checkup Area where we will take some blood samples and go through the schedule for the services to be performed with you. The personalized list of services will be defined by a European Institute of Oncology Nurse Case Manager during an Entry Examination phone call with the patient conducted several days prior to the Smoking FOCUS.
